The story
Rex was born in Glendale and raised in Duarte. He started on piano at 4, then picked up trumpet, guitar, and drums. The turntables came next, and that is where it all came together: the timing and ear from years of playing instruments, put to work on two decks and a mixer.
He came up in LA nightlife, playing The Do-Over and Motown Mondays and sharing lineups with Busta Rhymes, Tech N9ne, LMFAO, and Wu-Tang Clan. He has scratched live on Power 106’s Wake Up Show.
Over the years the work spread out: weddings and private events, scratch videos that have drawn more than 100 million views, production and film scoring in the studio, and teaching other DJs.
What he does
Scratch DJ and MC from cocktail hour to last song. He reads the room and works your story into the night, live on real turntables.
Headline sets, club nights, and brand events. Featured on Power 106’s Wake Up Show and on lineups with Busta Rhymes and Wu-Tang Clan.
Producer for Christopher Details and Neppy Beats, and composer of the score for the indie film The L.A.N.A. Experiment.
Wedding Scratches, his live turntable series, has passed 900 episodes. He teaches the cuts step by step in the Pro DJ Lab.
